UPDATE #5*

HIGHWAY 1 RETAINING WALL PROJECT CONTINUES NEAR THE SAN LUIS OBISPO/MONTEREY COUNTY LINE

SAN LUIS OBISPO/MONTEREY COUNTIES – A project to construct a retaining wall on Highway 1 in northern San Luis Obispo/southern Monterey Counties is now underway. It will serve as a permanent restoration effort in this area known for major slides.

The next phase of the project consists of full overnight closures on Highway 1 from Gorda to Ragged Point and is scheduled to begin on Monday night, June 22. Roadwork will take place Sunday nights through Friday mornings from 10 pm until 7 am.

Motorists traveling north/south of these closures are advised to reach their destinations before 10 pm. All local businesses along the coast will remain open during the roadwork.

Motorists will encounter one-way reversing traffic control via a temporary traffic signal 24/7 except during overnight full closures. Traffic delays during the one-way traffic control will be 5-10 minutes.

Electronic message signs will be activated at the following locations: 1) on northbound US Highway 101, just south of the Hwy. 46/Hwy. 101 intersection in Paso Robles; 2) at the westbound Hwy. 46/ Hwy. 101 intersection in Paso Robles; 3) on Hwy. 1 in Cambria/San Simeon and also 4) on Hwy. 1 at Coast Gallery up the coast to inform motorists of these highway closures.

The contractor for this $9.5 million project is John Madonna Construction of San Luis Obispo, CA. This project is expected to be completed in winter 2016-17.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.

ROAD AND LANE CLOSURES SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 14 –

JUNE 21

MONTEREY COUNTY – Here are the major scheduled road and lane closures for Monterey County from Sunday, June 14 through Sunday, June 21, 2015 – newest information is in red. Please keep in mind that construction work is weather-dependent.

Highway 1 – South Coast: June 15 – June 19

Daytime drainage work along Highway 1 between the Big Creek Bridge and the Vincente Creek Bridge from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Highway 68 – Pacific Grove: June 17 – June 18

Daytime pavement repair along Highway 68 between S.F.B. Morse Drive and the Community Hospital Entrance from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

PG&E Gas Line Replacement Project – Highway 68: June 15 – June 20

Gas line replacement work will result in night time lane closures along eastbound and westbound Highway 68 between Olmsted Road and San Benancio Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Motorists can expect delays of approximately 15 minutes

Highway 101 – Greenfield: June 15 – June 19

Daytime and night time pavement work along northbound and southbound Highway 101 at Espinosa Road.
Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Highway 101 – San Juan Road Interchange Project: June 14 – June 19

Night time construction work along southbound and northbound Highway 101 between Dunbarton Road (South) and Cannon Road/Rocks Road from 7:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
The southbound and northbound San Juan Road Interchange ramps will be subject to closure.
Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.

Highway 183 – Salinas to Castroville: June 16

Daytime chip seal work along Highway 183 between San Jon Road and the Espinosa Slough Bridge from 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Traffic control consists of one-way reversing traffic control with flagging
Motorists should expect delays of approximately 15 minutes.

South Salinas: Westbound Blanco Road Closure

Industrial wastewater pipe installation will result in the all-day closure of westbound Blanco Road between Blanco Circle and La Mesa Way.
Eastbound Blanco Road will be subject to daytime lane closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Detour signs will be in place to help direct motorists.
Motorists should expect delays of approximately 15 minutes

Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 minutes.
