HIGHWAY 1 LEFT/RIGHT TURN LANE CLOSURES FOR PINEDORADO CAR SHOW

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY – The northbound right turn and southbound left turn lanes of Hwy. 1 at Cambria Road will be closed on Sunday, September 1, from 6 am to 6 pm for the annual Pinedorado Car Show. Motorists may use Burton Drive and Windsor Boulevard as alternate routes.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down while driving through highway construction zones.

** UPDATE #46 **
HIGHWAY 1/ROCKY CREEK VIADUCT PROJECT CONTINUES WITH DAYTIME ROADWORK AND INTERMITTENT OVERNIGHT CLOSURES

Daytime roadwork on Highway 1 at Rocky Creek continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Wednesday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Sept. 6 with 10-minute delays as needed. Special note: because of extra summer traffic, please be advised that traffic, which is controlled by a signal, is a bit heavier at this location and motorists may experience delays of up to 30 minutes. However, traffic should improve and diminish after the Labor Day weekend.

NOTE: There will be no daytime or nighttime work/closures this Friday, Aug. 30, Sunday, Sept. 1, Monday, Sept. 2 or Tuesday, Sept. 3 due to the Labor Day holiday weekend. In addition, there will be NO OVERNIGHT CLOSURES OR NIGHT ROADWORK next week (Wednesday, Sept. 4 and Thursday, Sept. 5.)

Work being done next week consists of forming and pouring segments of the deck.

Through traffic continues to be shifted onto the newly constructed southbound half of the viaduct while work continues on the northbound half.

The project to construct a permanent viaduct about 15 miles south of Carmel near the Rocky Creek Bridge began on Sept. 4, 2012. Completion is scheduled by the end of October, weather permitting. Daily roadwork schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors so stay tuned for regular updates.

The contractor for this $11 million viaduct project is Golden State Bridge of Martinez, CA.

HIGHWAY 1 ONE-DAY GUARDRAIL REPAIR SOUTH OF MONTEREY NEXT WEEK

MONTEREY COUNTY – A one-day guardrail repair project on Hwy.1, six miles north of Rocky Creek and just south of Yankee Point Drive near Monterey will take place on Wednesday, August 28, Caltrans officials have announced.

Roadwork hours are from 9 am to 2 pm and will include one-way reversing traffic control with flagging. Motorists can expect a delay not to exceed 15 minutes.

This roadwork is being performed by the Caltrans Monterey Maintenance Team as a safety precaution to provide motorists and cyclists a safer route to travel. This guardrail was recently damaged and needs repair.

NEW TRAFFIC CAMERAS IN MONTEREY/SANTA CRUZ COUNTIES

CENTRAL COAST – Caltrans has announced the addition of two new traffic cameras which show real-time traffic conditions on its District 5 web page. These new cameras have been activated in the following locations:

· Southbound Hwy. 1 at Sloat Avenue in Monterey County.
· Northbound Hwy. 1 West of Morrissey in Santa Cruz County.

There are currently eighteen cameras in San Luis Obispo County, seven in Santa Cruz County, five in Monterey County and eight in Santa Barbara County.

The statewide network of cameras can be viewed at: http://www.video.dot.ca.gov . If you have a MAC, here’s the latest version of the Media Player for MAC:

In addition, motorists may call the automated California Highway Information Network (CHIN) @ 800-427-7623 to get current conditions for any highway in the state.
