** UPDATE #7 **
HIGHWAY 1/ROCKY CREEK VIADUCT PROJECT IS UNDERWAY—
DAYTIME ROADWORK AND OVERNIGHT CLOSURES CONTINUE

MONTEREY COUNTY – Daytime roadwork continues next week from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, Dec. 3 through
Friday, Dec. 7. Overnight closures of Highway 1 at Rocky Creek (Mile Marker 59.5), between Big Sur
and Carmel are scheduled for four nights beginning Sunday, Dec. 2 through Thursday, Dec. 6 from 9
pm to 7 am.

Construction continues with drilling work for the viaduct columns.

Hwy. 1 @ Rocky Creek has one-way signalized traffic control 24/7. Traffic will be stopped for 10 minutes at a
time during daytime roadwork. However, full overnight closures will be scheduled five nights a week Sundays
through Thursdays until February. No full closures will occur on Friday/Saturday nights.

The project to construct a permanent viaduct about 15 miles south of Carmel near the Rocky Creek Bridge
along Highway 1 began on Sept. 4. Completion is scheduled by Labor Day 2013, weather permitting. Daily
roadwork schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors so stay tuned for
regular updates.

The contractor for this $11 million viaduct project is Golden State Bridge of Martinez, CA.

In order to minimize traffic impact as part of the project, there will be advance notification for motorists,
residents and businesses via a traffic hotline, electronic message signs and email updates.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway work zones.

EL PROYECTO DEL VIADUCTO EN ROCKY CREEK EN LA CARRETERA 1 CONTINUA—TRABAJO DURANTE EL DIA Y LOS CIERRES NOCTURNOS CONTINUAN

El trabajo durante el dia continúa de 7 am a 5 pm de este domingo 4 de noviembre al próximo sábado, 10 de noviembre.. Los cierres completos nocturnos de la carretera 1 en Rocky Creek (PM 59.5) estan programados para comenzar durante cinco noches la próxima semana del domingo 4 de noviembre al jueves 8 de noviembre de 9 pm a 7 am cada noche. No están programados los cierres completos nocturnos para el miércoles 31 de octubre o jueves, 1ro de noviembre a consecuencia de eventos locales.

El trabajo continua de taladro continua para las columnas del viaducto.

La Carretera 1 en Rocky Creek continúa con el control de tráfico siendo de un sólo sentido utilizando un semáforo las 24 horas del dia, los 7 dias de la semana. El tráfico se parará por lapsos de 10 minutos a la vez durante el trabajo del dia. Es importante recordar que los cierres completos nocturnos sólo se llevarán a cabo 5 noches a la semana, de domingo a jueves, No habrán cierres nocturnos el viernes o sábado.

El proyecto para construir un viaducto permanente a 15 millas al sur de Carmel cerca del Puente Rocky Creek a lo largo de la carretera 1 comenzó el 4 de septiembre. Se calcula que este proyecto terminará a principios de septiembre del 2013, dependiendo en el clima.El itinerario de las horas hábiles esta sujeto a cambios dependiendo del clima u otros factores.

El contratista de este proyecto cotizado en $11 millones es Golden State Bridge Inc. de la ciudad de Martinez, CA.

Para poder aminorar el impacto del tráfico como parte de este proyecto, habrá aviso por adelantado para los conductores, residentes y negocios via una línea telefónica automatizada de tráfico (que es a la que esta llamando), letreros electrónicos con mensajes, y avisos actualizados por correo-electronico.

Caltrans les recuerda a los conductores que manejen más despacio y que se cambien de carril cuando manejen en zonas de trabajo en la carretera.
