At 5:30 the CHP pulled their post on the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page. I called in to CHP dispatch to get a status report. We still have a “soft” closure at Bixby Bridge and at the Big Sur Deli. This means that that there are signs up warning travelers and stating “for residents only.” There is supposed to be language to indicate if you have business in Big Sur such as staying at a hotel, etc., to proceed with caution. So, the road is still open. It’s a bit sketchy. Be very careful if you have to go out tonight.
I looked at the Big Sur River web cam and the graph there is indicating the river has risen one foot today.
Outside of that, everything seems pretty normal so far for a storm of this magnitude.

Per NOAA:
A STORM SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE STRONG GUSTY SOUTH
WINDS AND PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN ON SUNDAY NIGHT. A FLASH FLOOD
WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE BURN AREAS OF MONTEREY COUNTY.

PERIODS OF HEAVY RAIN MAY CONTINUE INTO MONDAY MORNING. A FLASH
FLOOD WATCH WILL CONTINUE IN EFFECT THROUGH MID-MORNING MONDAY FOR
THE BURN AREAS OF MONTEREY COUNTY.
