Per NOAA today:
A STORM SYSTEM WILL SPREAD RAIN THROUGH OUR AREA STARTING SATURDAY EVENING. ALTHOUGH THERE IS STILL SOME DISAGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
VARIOUS COMPUTER MODELS…THERE IS GENERAL AGREEMENT THAT WE WILL RECEIVE SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION FROM THIS SYSTEM. EXPECT UP TO
1.5 INCHES IN MOST URBAN AREAS WITH 2 TO 5 INCHES OVER HIGHER ELEVATION SPOTS.

CHP has pulled the information regarding the rock/mud slide at JP Burns from their website and CHP Dispatch is informing that Highway 1 is now open.

CHP is reporting that Highway One is now clear at the River Inn.

The CHP website is reporting wires down and on fire in the southbound lane near the River Inn.  Both lanes are closed.

At 5:30 the CHP pulled their post on the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page. I called in to CHP dispatch to get a status report. We still have a “soft” closure at Bixby Bridge and at the Big Sur Deli. This means that that there are signs up warning travelers and stating “for residents only.” [...]

There have been several spots on the highway today that have been blocked or temporarily closed due to slides.  As of 3:31pm, there is a single lane closure at Partington, and all of Big Sur is under a “soft closure” from Bixby bridge south, with only residents allowed in the area.  As of now, CHP [...]

A STRONG PACIFIC STORM IS APPROACHING CALIFORNIA AND WILL BRING INCLEMENT WEATHER TO THE AREA SATURDAY EVENING. NOAA released a severe weather alert today, as well as a high surf advisory.  Of particular note is the second to last paragraph which reads:
